Melmac is another name given to Penis Envy. Some refer to it as “Homestead Penis Envy” as it is closer to the original PE strain, prior to any mutations. Popular sub-variants of this strain include Penis Envy 6, Albino Penis Envy, Penis Envy Uncut, and Texas Penis Envy.

The original Penis Envy strain was isolated by mycologist Steven Pollock from an Amazonian mushroom sent to him by ethnobotanist and psychonaut, Terence McKenna.

The mushroom produced has a thick white stipe, with a proportionately small golden-brown cap. These characteristics, which make it look not too unlike a penis, are from where the name Penis Envy is derived.

Melmac and all sub-variants of Penis Envy are highly sought after for their renowned high potency. They contain up to 50% more psilocybin than other strains of psilocybe cubensis. These mushrooms are rarer than other psilocybe cubensis strains, as they only drop about 5% of their spores. They also have a longer growing cycle, as many as 6 weeks. Melmac is generally considered a novelty mushroom, as they produce a low number of fruiting bodies and their yield is significantly smaller in subsequent flushes.
